Why it looks worse every year
Screen enclosures hold shade, and shade in Florida holds moisture. Mildew takes the frame first, then the mesh, then the spline channel where water sits after every afternoon storm. Because it darkens evenly, most people never notice it happening — they just notice the lanai feels dimmer than it used to and the pavers underneath have gone black.
Rust is the other half of the problem. Screws, the fasteners in the kick plates and any nearby irrigation put orange runs down the frame and onto the deck. That needs an acid treatment, and it needs to happen separately from the growth — bleach on rust makes it permanent.
What we do
The whole envelope gets treated, not just the surfaces facing the hose. Low pressure and a soft rinse mean the screen keeps its tension and the spline stays in the channel. The deck and pavers underneath get done as part of the same job, because whatever came off the cage landed there.
What high pressure does
Screen mesh has almost no tolerance for a pressure wand — a moment too close and the panel is gone, and a re-screen costs more than the cleaning did. High pressure also strips the powder coat off the frame, which is what starts the corrosion you will be treating next year.

How a cage job runs

Plants get soaked and covered, and we check the screens for tears and loose spline before anything gets wet, so nothing gets blamed on us that was already there. Then the solution goes on, dwells and comes off at low pressure.

Questions
No. At about garden-hose pressure there is not enough force to push a panel out — that is exactly why a cage should never see a pressure wand. We also walk the enclosure and note any tears or loose spline before we start, so there is no argument later about what was already there.
Almost always it comes off — what looks like stained aluminum is usually mildew with a rust component. Where the powder coat has actually failed and the metal underneath has corroded, cleaning will not bring that back, and we will say so rather than let you expect it.
Yes, and we recommend it. Everything that comes off the cage lands on the deck, so doing the cage alone leaves you looking at the contrast. Say so on the form and we will price it together.
No. The volume of water in a pool dilutes anything that reaches it to nothing, and we keep the run-off away from the water regardless. Test your chemistry the next day as you normally would.
Once a year for most homes here. A cage under oaks, close to water, or on the shaded side of the house will want it sooner — those are the ones that go dark fastest.
Not when it is done properly. Everything within reach gets soaked with clean water before we start and rinsed again after, and delicate beds get covered. This is the step careless outfits skip.
